Individual study plan
Student prepare Individual Study Plan (ISP) in consultation with their supervisor, in accordance with Dean’s Measure No. 291/2025. The deadline for submission is September 15 of the first year of study.

Dissertation
The dissertation must be submitted no later than the end of the fourth year of study, so that the dissertation defense can take place by the end of the standard period of study.

Scholarships and finances
The amount and conditions for awarding the basic doctoral stipend to full-time students in doctoral programs for the 2025/2026 academic year who enrolled before March 1, 2025 and who have not been awarded a supplementary scholarship pursuant to Addendum 3 to the Dean of the Faculty of Economics’ Measure No. 215/2022 on ensuring studies in doctoral study programs.
Guaranteed doctoral scholarship:
The amount of the guaranteed doctoral scholarship is determined as follows:
a) if the student's doctoral study income within the meaning of Section 91a(1) of the Act consists only of a doctoral scholarship, the doctoral scholarship is
awarded in the amount of the minimum monthly wage multiplied by a coefficient of 1.2 and then rounded up to the nearest ten CZK,
b) if the student's doctoral study income within the meaning of § 91a(1) of the Act consists of a combination of the monthly salary agreed for work in which the student, as an employee of USB or a cooperating entity of the employer, performs creative activities related to the development of his or her dissertation in an employment relationship, and the doctoral scholarship, the doctoral scholarship is awarded so that the sum of two-thirds of the monthly salary and the full amount of the doctoral scholarship is not less than the minimum monthly salary multiplied by a coefficient of 1.2 and then rounded up to the nearest ten CZK.The proceedings concerning a guaranteed doctoral scholarship is initiated by the receipt of the student's application to the Dean; it includes a sworn statement
concerning all previous and concurrent doctoral studies; this does not apply to applications submitted after at least four months have elapsed from the date of enrolment. Proceedings may also be initiated ex officio in the matter of a reduction, increase, or withdrawal of a doctoral scholarship. -
Mobility and internships
The doctoral program includes a mandatory study abroad internship of at least one month. Funding is available through the Erasmus+ program.

FAQ for students
What are the obligations of a doctoral student during the course of study?
The fulfilment of obligations is governed by The Measure of the Dean No. 291/2025. Additionally, students are required to follow the schedule of VAVE courses as outlined in the section entitled Subjects and Requirements.
How does the Individual Study Plan function and how is it approved?
The Individual Study Plan (ISP) is approved by 15 September of the first year of study. The ISP is prepared in coordination with the supervisor, and strict adherence thereto is required. Should it prove impossible to fulfil the ISP due to serious reasons, the student is required to submit a request for modification to the Study Field Committee.
How does one register for the State Doctoral Examination and the dissertation defence?
Registration for the State Doctoral Examination is carried out upon completion of all study obligations via the STAG information system. The same procedure applies to the registration for the dissertation defence.
How does one request a change of supervisor or dissertation topic?
Requests for the aforementioned changes may be submitted via the STAG information system under Student Requests – DSP General Request. A justification for the requested change must be provided in all cases. Decisions on such changes are made by the Study Field Committee at its regular sessions.
What opportunities are available for international travel during doctoral studies?
A compulsory international research stay of a minimum duration of one month constitutes an integral part of the doctoral study programme. The research stay must be discussed with the student's supervisor. Prior to departure, students are required to follow the instructions available at the designated link. Funding may be obtained through the Erasmus+ programme. Further information regarding international research stays is available here.
For how long is it possible to suspend one's studies?
Studies may be suspended for a maximum period of two years.
How long does the process take from the submission of the dissertation to the defence?
The process takes approximately two months. Initially, it is necessary to arrange a date with the approved examination committee. Subsequently, the dissertation is sent to the reviewers, who are granted a period of one month for the preparation of their evaluations.
What scholarships are available and how does one apply for them?
Scholarships are available exclusively to full-time doctoral students. The following types are offered: the Guaranteed Doctoral Scholarship, the Basic Doctoral Scholarship, and the Supplementary Equalisation Scholarship (see The Measure of the Dean No. 290/2025, Article 2). Eligibility for the Guaranteed Doctoral Scholarship arises upon submission of the application. Applications are submitted via the STAG information system under Student Requests – DSP Application for the Guaranteed Doctoral Scholarship.
When and how are scholarships disbursed?
Scholarships are disbursed at the end of each calendar month by bank transfer to the student's account.
