The BIP is organised by the Faculty of Economics, University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice (FEC USB), Czech Republic, in collaboration with regional industry partners, destination management organisations, and partner educational institutions.
The BIP awards 3 ECTS credits.
The programme focuses on the digital transformation of regional tourism and business ecosystems, combining academic expertise with direct engagement with real organisations operating in South Bohemia. Its central objective is to provide international students with a deep understanding of how digital tools, data-driven strategies, and innovative business models are reshaping the tourism and commerce landscape at the regional level.
The programme is structured around four thematic pillars, each grounded in a real-world context:
1. Regional tourism and destination management.
2. Digital business, e-commerce, and consumer behaviour.
3. Field study: destination resilience and visitor management – a visit to Český Krumlov (UNESCO World Heritage Site).
4. Transport, connectivity, and regional development – a day at Airport České Budějovice.
The integrating element across all four pillars is the South Bohemia Challenge, a team-based research and problem-solving task assigned at the start of the programme. International student teams investigate a real regional challenge and present their findings and recommendations on the final day to a mixed panel of academics and industry representatives.
