Department of Management

The Department of Management covers a wide spectrum within the field of management; as crucial, we consider the teaching of compulsory subjects at bachelor and master levels of a guaranteed branch Management and Business Economics directed at different approaches to the management of organizations, management of human resources, logistics and operational management, project, strategic and process management.

About

The Department of Management covers a wide range of management fields, the most important of which are the compulsory subjects in the full-time and combined bachelor's degree programme in Economics and Management, focusing on various approaches to management in organisations, human resources management, logistics and operational management, project, strategic and process management.

These pillars of the department are followed by a number of other optional subjects that allow students to broaden their professional profile, e.g. in the areas of quality management, change management, business ethics, communication, development of management techniques and skills, systematic building of corporate culture, issues of small and medium-sized businesses or motivation and stimulation of the workforce. The Department of Management also plays a significant role in teaching other subjects at the Faculty of Economics, as well as at other faculties of the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice. Teaching is often supplemented by lectures by external experts from practice.

The research and scientific direction of the Department of Management is primarily oriented towards the management of small and medium-sized enterprises and the search for effective and efficient management of business processes and human resources participating in these processes. Current research projects in which the members of the Department participate include TAČR TQ01000074 (2023-2026) Digitalization of project management education using the concept of serious games, virtual and augmented reality with regard to current business needs, Visegrad ID22410040 (2024-2025) Improving soft skills for the 21st century in career counseling: Transfer of V4 experience, GA JU 068/2024/S (2024-2026) Business models and their use in SME management. Another direction of the Department is the area of process management in the non-production sphere (public administration, local government, social services and entrepreneurship).

The research results are part of lectures or case studies that students solve as part of the exercises. Students participate in solving the GAJU project, and use the outputs in their final theses. The internal university project IRP supports publication activities and innovation of subjects in the field.

Cooperation with the Food Bank of the South Bohemian Region is within the course Company I, where students carry out their entrepreneurial activities and donate all their income to this bank.
