The Faculty of Economics at the University of South Bohemia is strengthening its cooperation with the Armenian National Agrarian University (ANAU) in Yerevan through the Erasmus+ programme and International Credit Mobility. The project has fostered the exchange of expertise in the fields of agricultural and food economics and management, marketing, education, and applied research.
During the summer semester of the 2025/2026 academic year, the University of South Bohemia welcomed three representatives from our partner institution. In May, Ms Tsaghkanush Mirzoyan and Mr Vahagn Sargsyan visited the university, followed in June by the Rector of ANAU, Hrachya Zakoyan. Their programme included meetings at the Rectorate and the Faculty of Economics, as well as visits to the Faculty of Agriculture and Technology and the Faculty of Fisheries and Protection of Waters.
During meetings with the Vice Dean for International Relations and representatives of the Department of Regional Management, the Armenian colleagues presented ANAU’s education system and its role in preparing professionals for the agri-food sector. They also shared insights into current trends in Armenian agriculture, the challenges the sector faces, and its future development opportunities. Particular attention was given to the transition towards a green economy, the development of organic and environmentally sustainable farming, agritourism, and winemaking, as well as the role of regional festivals in promoting tourism and supporting local producers. These topics were illustrated with examples of good practice from Armenia. The visitors also expressed their appreciation for the University of South Bohemia’s experience in integrating education, research, and practical implementation, including pilot production activities. Ms Mirzoyan and Mr Sargsyan also had the opportunity to share their knowledge and professional experience with students of the Faculty of Economics during classes organised by the Department of Trade and Tourism.
As part of the reciprocal mobility, the project coordinator at the Faculty of Economics, Associate Professor Kamil Pícha, also visited ANAU. During his stay, he became acquainted with the university’s Agricultural Economics Laboratory, which focuses on data analysis and economic research, as well as its modern facilities designed to support the development of students’ soft skills. The programme also included discussions on expanding cooperation in teaching agricultural economics and agricultural and food marketing. The exchange of experience and good practice provides valuable inspiration for both partner institutions and creates new opportunities for joint educational and research activities.
