Faculty of Economics strengthens ties with DePaul university in Chicago, USA

The Faculty of Economics of the University of South Bohemia continues to focus on strengthening relationships with partner universities both in Europe and beyond. The first step in this academic year was taken by Ing. Jiří Alina, Ph.D. from the Department of Applied Economics and Economic, who undertook a working visit to DePaul University in Chicago, USA, in early October. The main goal of the visit was to deepen cooperation between the two universities in research, teaching, and academic exchange of both students and faculty members.

During his stay, Dr. Alina met with several representatives of the College of Business, including Professor Jin Man Lee (pictured in the last photo), whose research focuses on econometric models, nonlinear time series analysis, big data, market indices, real estate finance, urban economics, and international financial markets. Professor Lee has over fifteen years of experience in university teaching and has been recognized for his professional and community work with the Korean American Community Service Award, granted by the Korean American Association of Chicago.

Their discussions focused on sharing experience in the fields of applied economics and finance, exploring opportunities for joint research projects, and developing further collaboration within international programs. The visit confirmed a mutual interest in strengthening long-term partnerships and developing cooperation that will contribute to the global reach of the Faculty of Economics.

This visit represents another step in the faculty’s ongoing effort to foster international academic connections and promote the exchange of knowledge not only among Czech and European universities but also across the global academic community.
