SVOČ 2026 at EF JU: Students gained valuable advice for final exams and feedback from experts
On 16–17 April 2026, the Faculty of Economics of the University of South Bohemia hosted the 20th anniversary edition of the Student Scientific and Professional Activity competition (SVOČ). The competition has long served not only as a platform for presenting student work, but above all as an important step in preparing for final state examinations. During their presentations, students received detailed feedback that helps them better structure their arguments, defend their methodology, and reflect on their topics in a broader context.
A total of 50 students from bachelor’s and follow-up master’s programmes took part in this year’s competition, presenting 47 papers across six thematic sections. This year’s edition also included a non-competitive doctoral section held in English, where six participants presented their dissertation projects. This format enabled deeper academic and practical discussions, as well as individual recommendations for further research development.
It is precisely the combination of academic insight and practical experience that gives SVOČ its unique value. In addition to faculty members, the evaluation panels also included representatives from companies and institutions, namely Ing. Miroslav Souček (BDO Audit, s.r.o.), Ing. Jiří Maršík, Ph.D. (Robert Bosch s.r.o.), Ing. Ondřej Kašťák (DGT Partners a.s.), Ing. Michal Kovařík (Municipal Office of Milevsko), and Ing. Lenka Tóthová (ČEZ, a.s.). Students thus had a unique opportunity to confront their conclusions with real-world economic practice and gain insights that go beyond theoretical teaching. The best papers in each section were awarded not only recognition from the expert committees, but also financial rewards in the form of scholarships, serving as motivation for further academic development.
The Faculty of Economics of the University of South Bohemia would like to thank all participating students and doctoral candidates for their involvement in the competition, as well as the representatives of companies who, despite their busy schedules, found the time to support students and future graduates of the faculty. Their participation and willingness to share practical experience significantly contribute to the overall quality of the competition. Thanks to them, SVOČ continues to prove each year that it is an important bridge between academia and practice—and at the same time a valuable opportunity to prepare for one of the most important milestones of university studies.
The top three students from each section can be found in the results list.
