The Faculty of Economics was established by separating from the Faculty of Agriculture on January 1, 2007. The faculty has adopted the European standards for university education and research and fully accepts the challenges of structural change and innovation in business with the aim of supporting regional economic and demographic stabilization. All three educational level study programmes – undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral – at the faculty respect the requirements consequent on the increasing globalization of study programmes and will offer tuition in chosen subjects, particularly within the postgraduate study programmes in foreign languages, such as English and German.
The University of South Bohemia organised the third “International Week”, which took place at the beginning of the Advent period from 30th November to 4th December 2015. This year, the International Week was dedicated to the 750th Jubilee Year of the foundation of the city of České Budějovice.
Starting with the next academic year 2015/2016 Faculty of Economics is opening a new master study programme "Commerce and Entrepreneurship". This study programme is being fully taught in English and allows further specializing on trade, hospitality and tourism or marketing in international and strategic context.
