Cíle předmětu (anotace)

The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the environmental aspects of economic management, not only at the regional and the company level , but also in the broader macroeconomic context of whole-society decision making . Environmental management is a theory and practice aimed at taking into account the dimension of nature into the management itself. The course proceeds from the definition of basic concepts such as ecology and the environment, their reflection in economic theory and practice to the principles of sustainable development and its practical application in environmental management.
The aim of this course is to teach students to approach economic decisions and evaluation of projects in defined area, not only in the socio-economic but also in environmental contexts. In other words, to teach students to understand the importance of the environment in their future role of managers of the company and the region. Individual case studies and analysis serves as practical example for demonstration of theoretical approaches. Case studies concerning not only the Czech Republic but also other EU countries, and allow comparison of different approaches to environmental management, not only historically, but also internationally.
