International Week 2015 to the 750th Jubilee of the City of České Budějovice

The University of South Bohemia organised the third “International Week”, which took place at the beginning of the Advent period from 30th November to 4th December 2015. This year, the International Week was dedicated to the 750th Jubilee Year of the foundation of the city of České Budějovice.

The university was pleased to welcome 33 colleagues from 16 countries (Spain, the United Kingdom, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, Poland, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Slovakia, Germany, Finland, Greece, Portugal, Croatia, Turkey and France) and 25 universities, the staff of which were mostly administrative workers working for international offices and also members of academic staff, who gave lectures to our students. The core topic of the International Week was “Internationalization” and workshops and discussion sessions concerning this current issue were held throughout the whole week.

Regarding the Faculty of Economics, the participants met members of the faculty management and a coordinator from the International Office. They discussed the possibilities of prospective cooperation in the field of research, joint projects and exchange programmes. Five teachers from the partner universities (Turkey, Greece, Poland, Germany, and Latvia) gave lectures to the faculty students on Corporate Governance, Major Accounting Concepts and Principles, General EU Law, Time Management, and Business English.

The participants were able to see not only the beautiful sights of the city of České Budějovice, but also those in the Region of South Bohemia as they visited the magnificent UNESCO town of Český Krumlov, the picturesque castle of Hluboká nad Vltavou and the world famous Budvar brewery, where they could taste unfiltered beer and had our farewell dinner with a traditional Czech meal.
